AC Assembly Complete The AC Assembly Complete is talking about the total system that is installed in your car that has anything to do with cooling your vehicle. Some components of this system are the obvious: AC Evaporator, AC Condensor, AC Compressor, Pully, Freon etc. These components work together to simply make the air more comfortable to the driver and passengers. Normally vehicles are equiped with AC these days but it is possible to retro-fit an older vehicle with an entire AC Assembly by purchasing all of the parts that make up this. Since even older cars have a basic vent system it is just a matter of getting the Compressor hooked up to a pulley and providing basic humidity control.
AC Condensor Cooled air is the primary and singular purpose of your car or truck's air conditioning assembly. This process involves multiple components all working in synchronization to happen. Just as the ignition system involves a Ignition Module , Ignition switch and multiple layers of wiring your cars ac assembly runs from multiple parts too. The condenser is no exception. Wihout this part the air just does not cool like it should and in a manner that can be duplicated time after time, continually in the hot summer months or simply humid time periods of the year.
If you have your condenser checked and you find it is the culprit you can either ask them for a used replacement or a new one. Sometimes the price will afford you to buy a new one but in most cases the way to go is a nice used OEM part. This is a non-moving part so many times if flushed and taken care of it will last many years so to get a used one from a salved car is an excellent choice.
AC Condensor Fan An electric cooling fan mounted on the A/C condenser made to increase airflow and help in cooling down the refrigerant. Not to be confused with the radiator fan.
So be cool relax and stay in the shade. This part is not be taken lightly in some cases it takes just one part to make your ride uncomfortable.
Be careful when adjusting any part of the complete AC Assembly and make sure what exactly your vehicle needs. Consulting a certified mechnic is highly recommended at all times. It could mean the difference in the operation of your vehilce.
AC Compressor Noone likes to be hot and humid during the summer. Many times getting in your car can be the most comfortable time since your cars AC System blows cold, de-humidified air and its right there in front of you. Now on the other hand if your cars compressor has gone bad you'll find out real quick that it won't be very cool in your car, truck or SUV. The AC Compressor is a main component of your cars cooling system. It houses the Freon that aids in the process of removing humidity from the outside or re-circulated air and then pushing it along the AC lines to complete the process and give you the cool refreshing touch of air. Older systems used Freon-12 and newer systems (after 1994) used Freon-11. This change was due to concerns about damage to the ozone layer that Freon-12 was doing. The scientific name is chlorofluorocarbon halomethane, or CFC and is still available for older vehicles when one needs to be charged but newer vehicles do not have these systems. In the event you take your car in for service they will do a charge test and will, in the event there is low pressure in your compressor, re-fill it to the appropriate levels.
AC Compressor Clutch The AC Compressor Clutch Assembly is a component of the AC Compressor and is used to control when the clutch actually engages or not. No compressor runs indefinitely unless the temperature in the car can not be reduced the the level set by the temperature control head. In this case it would be a defect and could actually ruin the compressor or greatly reduce its life span.
If you are having problems with the compressor engaging correctly this could be your problem.
AC Evaporator Similar to your AC Condenser, the AC Evaporator is commonly located behind the dash or your console. A refridgerant is pumped through it, and through a complex series of evaporations and condensations, the air in your car is cooled by having its heat absorbed by the AC Evaporator. The part maintains an operating temperature of normally less than 35 degrees Fahrenheit, and if it goes below 32 degrees, moisture that is taken from your compartment can become frozen to the evaporator. There is a switch that connects it to the AC Compressor that can be used to avoid this problem.
